Flood in Pakistan ➤ A Tragedy Through the Eyewitness' Eyes

💦 Monsoon rains accompanied by floods are a common natural phenomenon for South Asians. Almost every year they cause destruction and loss of life. However, in 2022, the disaster has reached catastrophic proportions, affecting all regions of Pakistan.

AUGUST 2022

🌊 PAKISTAN: Air, road and rail links have been interrupted, tens of thousands of homes destroyed or damaged, and more than half a million livestock killed. In Sindh province, the number of confirmed flood victims has reached 320.

The floods have affected 33 million people.

In 2022, we have the flood. The more devastations, more destructions and more lives we will lose because of that flood that was caused due to heavy rain.

in the initial it was very shocking for the governments too. Even for the provincial government, national governments and also the local government, they couldn't understand what's actually going on.

everything happened in so fast time.

🆘 It took time for the governments and the people to understand what is actually happening.

So it has heavily affected the crop fields and the land area where almost 33% of the area of Pakistan is right now is very much flooded. And most in about 1200 people have died until now. So it is a very devastating situation in Pakistan right now.

…they feel devastated. They are in trauma. Most of the people I tried to talk to, they couldn't talk, actually. They started crying. They lost everything they said. And I have also talked to some people whose family members have died due to this, and it's very much devastating.

So we need some serious studies and evidence policy so that we can address the real problem that we are facing. First of all, we need to realize it is a problem and climate change is a reality now and everybody in the world has in one way or the other been affected by climate change.
