🔥 CHILE: For more than a month now, forest fires continue in Chile. Very dry weather combined with strong winds and inaccessibility of mountain areas contribute to the occurrence of more and more fire sources.
This time the fire turned into a national disaster.

🆘 As of February 4, 2023, more than 150 fires were already recorded across the country. The central provinces of Biobío and Ñuble suffer from the fire disaster the most.
At least 13 fatalities are known. Hundreds of families were left homeless, and without anything at all. To escape from fire, in most cases people fled from their homes, not even being able to take basic necessities.
🔥 Social media were excited by the video of an underground fire bursting out of the ground in the middle of the road near the town of Killion.
But, the most likely cause of underground fires is seismotectonic degassing of the Earth. In seismically active zones, and Chile is located in such a zone, flammable gases rise to the surface through cracks and fractures in the Earth's crust. It is in such zones forest fires are difficult to extinguish and they last for a long time.
⚠️ The rapid intensification of degassing processes is one of the consequences of disturbances in the stability of the Earth's core.
