The same thing happened twice tonight, the second time the buildings collapsed more.

Everyone died, acquaintances, friends, they all died, - says housewife Eda Çoşkun, an eyewitness to the earthquake from Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye.

🆘 TÜRKIYE: Two powerful earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.5 struck southeastern Türkiye nine hours apart. More than 50,000 people were killed in Türkiye as a result of the disasters. More than 230,000 buildings were destroyed or severely damaged.

Although the building is only 2 months old, everything cracked. We could hardly get out. It was very bad. We were lying in bed. It was around half past four. Everything shook. We were all on the floor.

This time it [earthquake] lasted more than a minute, and it was terrible, it didn't stop. The ground shook. The building went and came and went and came. We had a very difficult moment. The kids screamed. We were scared. We had to get out.

It has already been 7 days here, and they are still pulling people out of the rubble.

We were caught very unprepared.

That's too bad. I can still hear the ambulance in my ears right now. The fear. My legs are paralysed. Our mental state is very bad.

Yes it was very difficult. The children, everyone was outside. No water, no electricity. Everything was cut off. There was no reception on the phones, my family could not reach me.

The reason for the late arrival of the aid was that everything was destroyed, the roads were destroyed, the lorries could not enter. It was minus temperatures in very bad weather. It was very cold. Snowy rainy.

Türkiye has become one heart. Everyone is supporting each other. I mean, those who have something and those who don’t. Even if it is the smallest piece of chewing gum, even if it is a small piece, everyone supports each other.
