In Syria, thousands of people are trapped under mountains of rubble after the powerful earthquakes of February 6, 2023.
Time is of the essence for rescue efforts, but while a massive rescue operation is underway in Turkey... in war-torn Syria, the situation is quite different.
After a decade of all-out war, millions of people are almost completely cut off from international aid.
There is no one and nothing to provide medical care in the ruined hospitals. They are devastated.
There is a catastrophic shortage of lifeguards.
Isn't this a reason to think about the format of the society in which we now live?
In a report on climate that was presented at the forum "The Global Crisis. Our Survival is in Unity," scientists warned that such earthquakes would increase in frequency, magnitude and number.
And then how will we deal with their consequences? Have you thought about that?
After all, the tragedies in Syria and Turkey are not just accidents. We are rapidly approaching the date when the conditions for human life on this planet will become unbearable.
Isn't this a reason to build a more human and united society, prepared for all climatic challenges?
