This is Ántero Flores-Aráoz. I am Peruvian. I am a lawyer. I am in the private practice of law, but I have also held various public positions. I have been in the Metropolitan Council of the capital city of Lima. I have been ambassador to the Organization of American States. I have been a congressman for sixteen years. I have presided over the Congress of the Republic of Peru. I have also been prime minister.
I insist that the world changed because of globalization, and globalization is a tool and it will depend on how globalization is used to know if that tool is good or bad. The pandemic has made us feel more global, it has affected everybody. It has affected different things, it has affected the mood of the people and it has affected the economy of the people. It has affected people's education from pre-school to university. And it has also affected the labor market, because there is more unemployment. Millions of people have lost their jobs and millions of companies have gone bankrupt. So there is an impact on the economy and logically this has also generated social conflicts. Countries that did not have more or less social problems today have them because of the state of the mind of the people who are irritable, upset about everything, constantly angry and this leads to a change in the political bias of some countries. It's happening in my country and it can happen anywhere in the world.
This is my vision that I have of the world, in that there is a need for human beings to be more human, less machines and for science and technological advancement to be used properly to serve humanity and not to tear it apart. Here's my thinking.
I really like the work that you are developing and more so when you have put the term "create" and you have started with all logic and reasoning. And I also like the fact that you see all countries with a criterion of equality. There is not the poor and the rich, there is not the powerful and the powerless, there is not the one who imposes authority and the other who obeys it, but all equal, and human beings equal, making them more human and more responsible for the care of this world and for its development with technological and scientific innovations, but putting them at the service of the human being. It is not the human being that is at the service of technological advancement, but that advancement has as tools to be put at the service of the human being, and that ordinary people in equality be more and more supportive and more and more human.
And I am the one who has to thank you because it is the ordinary human beings who are going to benefit in the future from the important work that you are doing, so selfless and with great humanism. I not only congratulate you, I not only recognize the work that you are doing, but to the extent of my possibilities. I am delighted to join in.
You have to use social media a lot to inform.
Because most people are good people who love their planet and want us to be better off.
