Participants of the Creative Society Project and ALLATRA IPM Took Part in the UN Conference in Vienna “Sustainable Peace Begins Now – with Education”

Vienna, August 7, 2025 — Participants of the Creative Society project and ALLATRA IPM took part in the international conference “Sustainable Peace Starts Now – with Education”, held at the United Nations Office in Vienna. The event was organized by the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) and brought together diplomats, representatives of international organizations, NGOs, educators, and youth leaders to discuss the role of education, inclusion, and youth engagement in building sustainable peace.

During the event, representatives of the Creative Society project and ALLATRA IPM actively participated in discussions, addressing such important topics as the protection of freedom and democracy, the need for joint action in the face of the growing environmental and climate crisis. These issues were actively discussed with diplomats, UN officials, representatives of NGOs, and civil society, fostering a constructive exchange of views and identifying possible directions for joint initiatives.

The conference, organized by the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP), brought together diplomats, representatives of international organizations, educators, and youth leaders. Among the most prominent speakers were:

  • H.E. Mr. Jose Antonio Zabalgoitia Trejo, Ambassador of Mexico to Austria, Slovakia, and Slovenia, and Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna;
  • Jean-Luc Lemahieu, former Director of the Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs at UNODC (2013–2024), expert in international law and conflict-affected regions;
  • Mag. Caroline Hungerländer, Managing Director of the Institute for Environment, Peace and Development and Member of the Vienna City Council;
  • H.E. Fatou Angelique Bessin, Second Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Burkina Faso to the UN in Vienna, advocate for gender equality and sustainable development;
  • Ms. Paloma Munne, UNODC Youth Mainstreaming and Inter-Agency Affairs Specialist, promoting youth empowerment in UN initiatives.

The conference discussions covered key topics such as:

  • education as the foundation of sustainable peace and social unity;
  • the role of intercultural dialogue in conflict prevention;
  • gender equality and inclusive education;
  • youth participation in decision-making processes;
  • international cooperation in addressing global challenges, including environmental and climate threats.

The conference also featured a panel with young delegates from Israel. They shared their experience in participating in debates, UN simulation exercises, and intercultural projects, emphasizing that youth involvement in dialogue and decision-making enriches public processes and helps to find fresh and constructive solutions for the future.

Representatives of the Creative Society and ALLATRA IPM exchanged views and experiences with participants, discussing opportunities for joint initiatives and concrete steps for their implementation. The dialogue took place in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, fostering mutual understanding and the development of international connections.

Events such as “Sustainable Peace Starts Now – with Education” provide a unique platform for exchanging experiences, seeking partnerships, and jointly developing solutions. The active participation of the Creative Society and ALLATRA IPM representatives highlighted their commitment to promoting values, strengthening international cooperation, and inspiring people to take real steps toward building a safe, fair, and sustainable world.
