Representatives of "Creative Society. Israel" and "ALLATRA Israel" at a Conference on Sustainable Development of Rural Areas. Givat Brenner, Israel

On March 18, 2025, the participants of the project «Creative Society. Israel» together with the participants of «АLLАTRA Israel» joined the Sustainable Development of Rural Areas which took place in Kibbutz Givat Brenner, Israel.

During the event, key challenges were discussed, particularly the rapid increase in the frequency and intensity of natural disasters and their impact on agriculture, the environment, and energy security.

The main topics of the conference included:

• The impact of rising natural disasters on agriculture and the use of open spaces;
• Legislative initiatives on environmental protection and ecosystem restoration;
• Examples of successful sustainable agriculture and adaptation to the growing threat of natural disasters;
• The development of renewable energy sources and ecotourism.

Among the speakers of the event were:

• Shai Hajaj – Chairman of the Center for Regional Government and Head of the Merhavim Regional Council;
• Doron Shidlov – Head of the Brenner Regional Council and Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection of the Center for Regional Governance;
• Idit Silman – Minister of Environmental Protection of Israel;
• Shimon (Shimi) Baron – Acting CEO and Chief Legal Counsel at Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael - Jewish Nation Fund;
• Isaac Herzog – President of Israel (welcome video address).

As part of the conference, the participants of the project «Creative Society.Israel » and «АLLАTRA.Israel» held productive negotiations with the speakers and representatives of regional councils, discussing opportunities for cooperation and joint initiatives in the field of sustainable development and social responsibility amid the rapid growth of natural disasters. They also highlighted the importance of implementing modern technologies to mitigate the impact of environmental and natural disasters.
